The correct spelling is "festa de l'unità", where l'unità is the name of a newspaper (formerly the official newspaper of the communist party) that was used to promote it.

Festa dell'Unità!
[edit]I'm from Tuscany I have been at a lot of this Feste and I have always seen written "Festa dell'Unità". It's true that the name of the newspaper is l'Unità but Festa de l'Unità in Italian don't sound well. I have even to say that the "Festa dell'Unità" still exist, even if the Italian Communist Party split up and formed the Leftish Democrats (Democratici di Sinistra) and the Communist Refondation Party (Partito della Rifondazione Comunista). This last has its newspaper and its own Festa, called Liberazione and Festa di Liberazione --150.217.179.141 15:36, 13 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- No, it's Festa de l'Unità. That is the official title, even if many people misspell it Festa dell'Unità. See http://www.festaunita.it. It is furthermore not true that the name does not sound right in Italian. There is in fact no difference in pronunciation between the two, in standard Florentine Italian. Possibly, standard Florentine Italian is not standard Italian: a single "l" and a double one are sounded differently. Yougeeaw (talk) 04:35, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
The contributor of this note seems to be quite Florentine-centric. All "Feste dell'Unità" in region capitals are two week long or more. Yougeeaw (talk) 04:39, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
