[edit]About what period in time do we speak one ? Middel ages ? Or is this modern history ?
Page history merge
[edit]The history of this article has had the history of Dervorguilla merged with it. There is an issue at Talk:Dervorguilla relating to what is the correct spelling of the name. Do not construe my merging of the article histories to here as acceptance that that is the correct spelling. If that is a more appropriate spelling, then this article can be moved there with its (now merged) article history. - Mark 02:53, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
Part of my concern also, aside from the spelling of the name, is that applying her husband's name to hers in the form of Dervorguilla Balliol is a bit anachronistic - before I hit on the original Wiki page I had never seen the name expressed in that way and I don't think it really belongs. NWD 5 September
Our naming conventions (NC) are guiding to use so-called pre-marital name, which in this case very obviously is "of Galloway". That also was a name used of Dervorguilla at her own time. I have also conceded to the spelling with that one r more. Moved due to these considerations. Arrigo 21:16, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
Toom Tabbard
[edit]"Toom Tabbard" actually means "empty shirt" in Scots, not "puppet king" although the implication is the same. Wmck 19:56, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Substance & Sculpture
[edit]In the intro, it says Dervorguilla was a 'lady of substance', without further elaboration. Whatever does that mean? (A fancy way of saying she ate like a pig?)
Also, the pic with the sculpture at Dumfries, is that a modern sculpture? Is it unfinished, or that harrowing 'encased-in-carbonite' effect was the intended look? And who is the author? The description page for the pic itself is rather terse. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.168.133.49 (talk) 10:04, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
