Questions

[edit]

Sorry, what does the "Power Corporation of Canada" addition mean? Some verb or something is missing ... -- till we *) 21:07 12 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Small Question: What's "Groupe Bruxelles Lambert [...] acquired control of Bertelsmann AG." supposed to mean? Bertelsmann is owned by three major shareholders - the Bertelsmann Foundation, The Mohn family, and Bruxelles Lambert. The Mohn family and the Bertelsmann Foundation are pretty much the same thing (BVG) and control 75% of Bertelmann AG. Which means, Bruxelles Lambert has voting rights (25%), but that's not really important, as there are only two parties that are allowed to vote, and the other party's vote weighs in at 75%. I'd say Bruxelles Lambert owns 25.1%, but has _no_ control...?

The topic "Illegal fly posting" is not relevant and should be omitted.

Important article

[edit]

This is an important corporation whose vast reach in media touches us daily.

Gruner & Jahr magazine publisher that is biggest in Europe and 2nd biggest world wide
Direct Group world's largest book and music club group
...no articles?

Thus, I have added this article and section as a priority to update and expand. ~ RoboAction 01:26, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The History section here needs re-organising, the 'Nazi-Past' section includes all post WW2 information on the company, most of which has nothing to do with nazis

Fair use rationale for Image:Logo Bertelsmann.png

[edit]

Image:Logo Bertelsmann.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merged firms

[edit]

According to the NYT and thw Wik article on Random House, the RH and Penguin deal went through on the first of July 2013. The exact nature of the "merger" seems a bit complicated (i.e., Bertelsmann owns less than 100% of the company), so someone who understands business should put this information into the article.

Translation

[edit]

As shown by the marker at the beginning, this article has not been updated for years. For example, information about the corporate structure, divisions and Bertelsmann in the Third Reich were missing or outdated. So we've translated the German Wikipedia article and posted it here. I hope this is appropriate? If you have any questions, especially regarding references in German language, please let us know. --Matthias at Bertelsmann (talk) 12:14, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Detailism

This article is too much into details. Should be shortened. --217.9.114.198 (talk) 09:11, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
