[edit]I removed the "af" from his surname. I believe it's either wrongly placed, or shouldn't be there at all. If it belongs there, I believe the correct name would be:
Pehr Evind Svinhufvud af Qvalstad

It is funnily incorrect to claim that P.E.Svinhufvud was Finland-Swedish. 213.243.157.114 02:10, 5 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Depends on how you define Finland-Swedish, of course. As far as I remember, his mother tongue us reported to have been Swedish. Plenty of the fennomans were Finland-Swedes. That's no contradiction. /Tuomas 00:06, 8 Jul 2004 (UTC)
I think "Hubby-Pekka" doesn't carry the right connotation. Originally "Ukko" simply means an older man, sometimes with connotation of prestige, power and/or experience. Maybe "Elder" would have the right meaning? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.76.137.213 (talk) 16:54, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
I question this 'spin' in the Independence and the Civil War section: '... Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, who somewhat hesitatingly gave his official recognition of Finnish independence.' Is there a source for this interpretation? The version I was taught was that in October-November 1917, Lenin had a lot of other things on his mind and when he heard that the Finns were thinking about declaring independence he immediately let it be known that he would not oppose this in any way since it would mean one fewer head-ache for the Bolsheviks to deal with.
