Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:Rfp)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: This article has faced ongoing disruptions by IP users for several months. They repeatedly damage the infobox template and add duplicate parameters. Since there are no significant daily updates needed for this person's life, using edit requests would be a more efficient solution for everyone involved. Reason: High level Ip vandalism and many unsourced edits. Sush150 (talk) 16:23, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Per WP:CT/A-I. Pachu Kannan (talk) 16:29, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – IP editors repeatedly adding unsourced names of competitors to articles. Show broadcasts in about a week so the list will be known by then, but it's pure guesswork and speculation without any sources supporting. Ravensfire (talk) 17:09, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent vandalism – User:Mosalman786 (semi-confirmed user) has been adding spam links to external sites. Look like an account used only for link-spamming. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 17:31, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Now there's an IP keeps changing the number of matches against the given source... Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 05:00, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 17:54, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Previous protection applied 29 June for 3 months. The day after it expired (today), "Nicolle A. Morea" began adding her "marriage" back. Please apply at least another 3 months, if not longer; apparently the vandal has a long attention span. Schazjmd (talk) 20:28, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 year, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Favonian (talk) 05:31, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Persistent vandalism – Vandalism continues after page protection lifted.   Aloha27  talk  20:38, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: WP:PIA-related article with recent contentious IP edit Vyvagaba (talk) 20:59, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP hopper keeps edit warring for no reason. An increase in protection seems necessary to avoid any further disruption. CycloneYoris talk! 22:35, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Continued IP sock adding the same disruptive topic. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 23:11, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Sock activity flared up right after expiration. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 03:21, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Twinkle seems to be drunk, why did it send it to the decrease protection section??? ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 03:22, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ABG No idea, but there's no issue manually moving the request over to RPPI, as I've just done. Thanks for helping keep this place sane. :) Zinnober9 (talk) 03:42, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'd rather not protect as they're just going to hop to another page. Elli (talk | contribs) 03:43, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:PIA. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 04:03, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IPs are constantly removing the RfD tag from this redirect. Please protect. CycloneYoris talk! 05:50, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: persistent vandalism (scores/result have been altered on multiple occasions) Electricmaster (talk) 07:28, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Because it needs updating as the evidence now shows this was a directed government plan and President Trump and his supporters did NOT intend and insurrection but were led on by government operatives to enter the capitol building. Its all on video and government records as is the General Milley's testimony that the President requested National Guard help well in advance of 6 Jan. 2605:59C8:4300:1308:2076:C89B:A86F:2B43 (talk) 20:17, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Even if this were true (it's not), why would that merit unprotection? - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 04:55, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Declined. This request demonstrates clearly why the talk page is semiprotected. Edit requests can be made at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Edit, in the format "change X to Y" with reliable sources cited. Any other kind of edit request will be rejected. ~Anachronist (talk) 05:26, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
