Wikipedia talk:Fair use checklist
Appearance
The rationale of this list is wrong
[edit]The page says:
"Under US case law, thumbnails of images may be reproduced freely, since ... due to their small size, [they] do not function as a replacement for the original work. Some images on Wikipedia marked as 'fair use' are of a sufficient size for any Internet use or even for print use. Such images should be deleted if Wikipedia is to remain in compliance with US law."
This is a non-sequitur. Just because these images are not thumbnail-sized does not mean they are not fair use. I propose that this page be replaced by a much shorter list of images, each with a reason why they are not fair use. --erauch 26 Aug 2004, 5:07 (UTC)
