Welcome
[edit]Hello 777~enwiki and welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you like it here, and stick around.
Here are some tips to help you get started:
- To sign your posts (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).
- Try the Tutorial, and feel free to experiment in the test area.
- If you need help, post a question at the Help Desk
- Follow the Wikipedia:Simplified Ruleset
- Eventually, you might want to read the Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines.
- Remember Wikipedia:Neutral point of view
- Explore, be bold in editing pages, and, most importantly, have fun!
Good luck!
Image copyrights
[edit]Just a note--please include source information and licence information (i.e. copyright status) when uploading images. See Wikipedia:Copyrights for more information. Thanks, [[User:Meelar|Meelar (talk)]] 19:52, 2004 Aug 21 (UTC)
Image copyrights, redux
[edit]You've added Image:Tera.jpg, Image:Asia-carrera.jpg, Image:Annabel chong.jpg, Image:Laura.jpg, Image:Aurora Snow.jpg, and Image:Tiffany Towers.jpg. These are clearly copyrighted works produced by professional photographers. You've indicated in edit summaries that you have permission to use them, but (to protect Wikipedia and its mirrors and users from subsequent legal action) we need to see the permission. I guess that would entail a note or email from the copyright owner (we'd naturally need their real name, and in these cases a contact # would be strongly recommended) agreeing to licence the photos, in perpetuity, under the GFDL. If you can't provide these permissions, for each photo, soon, then I'm forced to list them on the Wikipedia:Copyright problems page, which will probably result in their deletion. Thanks. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 12:38, 2 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- With the links it is "fair use" - no problem of copyright --777 13:47, 5 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Unverified images
[edit]Hi! Thanks for uploading the following image:
I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GNU Free Documentation License, {{PD-self}} if you wish to release your own work to the public domain, {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know at my talk page where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much. Peter O. (Talk, automation script) 06:30, Dec 25, 2004 (UTC)
P.S. You can help tag other images at User:Yann/Untagged_Images. Thanks again.

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called 777. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name 777~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
