Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you like it here, and stick around.
Here are some tips to help you get started:
- To sign your posts (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).
- Try the Tutorial, and feel free to experiment in the test area.
- If you need help, post a question at the Help Desk
- Eventually, you might want to read the Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines.
- Remember Wikipedia:Neutral point of view
- Explore, be bold in editing pages, and, most importantly, have fun!
Good luck!

France
[edit]Have done, with some favourable comments, but an awful lot of bluster from French-speaking Wikipedians (not that there can be a connection there). In my opinion, being misleading and inappropriate, and with an already large article, the article is better without the entire paragraph. JDancer 00:51, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
Baseball on Wikicities
[edit]Hello RPIRED, Googie Man here and I'm writing to you because of the great work you've done on the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry, and the New York Yankees articles. Jimbo and Angela have made a new webstie called Wikicities. You can read more about Wikicities on the about Wikicities page. This link in particular will take you to the baseball Wikicity. As you'll see it's similar to Wikipedia, but my hope is this will allow baseball fans to do more and different things, like reporting on games, in depth statistics, create mulitple pages for pictures, and whatever else baseball fans care to create. You've done excellent work on Wikipedia and I was hoping you could help get this baseball Wikicity off the ground. Please let me know what you think. Thanks! Googie Man(Talk), 15:01, 10 January 2006 (UTC).
I agree that maybe my note in the Lake article doesn't fit in very well, but please don't remove the links to the bridges with existant articles unless you are willing to write new articles about them. The boxes were designed for browsing, not information. If you have a better way to present both (the next one with an article and the actual next one), please implement it, but don't just remove them! --Chris 16:55, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
- OK, so if you say they are for both navigation and information, then why did you remove their navigational functionality? Perhaps every bridge up to and including the next bridge in the encyclopedia should be listed. --Chris 18:11, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
- Are you doing something to fix this situation or not? I don't mind it being done a different way. There's already a list of all the crossings; it would be best to just put brief descriptions of the minor ones on the list of all of them. --Chris 22:33, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
Gen Wood
[edit]Thanks for the spelling correction of Gen Wood in the Roosevelt article. My reference had the spelling I used but I was surprized when the link didn't word. Epeeist smudge 09:21, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
Natl. Team Flags..
[edit]Hey I don't really have a problem with it myself, check the archives though, I believe they were added and then removed by someone citing precedent about provicial/state flags. Batman2005 17:52, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Big Dig
[edit]Yeah I questioned the nomination as well. It very well might have just been vandalism. However, I told the user that they need to properly nominate articles and I completed the nomination. Considering the article, I figure it will probably have an overwhelming keep vote, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to let the nomination go through. Dbinder (talk) 16:40, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
[edit]SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot 12:15, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Re: 3RR
[edit]3RR violation means that someone did 4 or more. Three reverts only isn't a violation. - Penwhale | Blast him / Follow his steps 15:13, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- If someone times his 4th revert just after 24 hours from the first, it could be considered gaming the system. Still, there needs to be 4 reverts before a violation can be called. :) - Penwhale | Blast him / Follow his steps 15:21, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:Baltimore1902logo.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Baltimore1902logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 12:45, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use disputed for Image:Al 1901 baltimore.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Al 1901 baltimore.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:52, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Baseball infobox template
[edit]I see from the history that you created the MLB yearly infobox-pre1969 template. I was doing a little disambiguating today, when I noticed a problem with the template, and I was wondering if you might be able to help explain what's going on.
For most of the items in the template, such as owners and managers, you enter the relevant information using internal links and you can pipe in different text than the name of the link itself.
However, in the current league spot, this doesn't work. The text has to be plain rather than using internal links, or else the double square brackets will show on either side. Piping in different text doesn't work at all.
It's coming up as a problem when dabbing because the article for the original American Association is actually at American Association (19th century).
Any suggestions? Mlaffs (talk) 21:36, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
