Picture?
[edit]The picture was deleted, so we need a new one.
- Why was the old picture deleted anyway?
- A picture would be good. Also, he did another song for DDR Extreme 2. I don't quite remember what it was called, but it was also played at the end of the Silent Hill movie. Just think it should be included. ^_^
- ^ That was "You're Not Here" from Silent Hill 3 (though it was played at the end of the movie). It's on Extreme, not Extreme 2. Kenny-t 13:58, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Knockoffs of existing music?
[edit]http://www.doomworld.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20078
According to the OP on this thread, Akira Yamaoka has knocked off the Doors and the Rolling Stones. Can anyone give confirmation on that? dethtoll 04:18, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- What a weird thing to say. If anything, Akira would had "ripped off" the mood/atmosphere from Lynch/Badalamenti or Portishead in SH1 and SH2, but that falls more on the side of "influence", his take on that Twin Peaks/Bristol sound is quite personal.
- He has also used in some compositions royalty free drum loops from CD sample libraries, but that's a common practice among electronic musicians.--83.33.132.19 (talk) 22:55, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
Birthplace
[edit]Hmm, I'm confused, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1168522/bio says he was born in Tokyo, however the wiki article states that he was born in Niigata, but I ain't able to verify that claim. -GhostHack 10:59, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]Are you serious? This guy is a major composer and is featured on IMDB ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1168522/ ). I'm surprised to find that notability is an issue here..... I've seen gutter-bands who no one has ever heard of here on wikipedia (i've seen them approved too), yet *this* guy's notability is questionable? I vote that tag be removed from the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by VectorThorn (talk • contribs) 23:42, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Akira Yamaoka featured in gaming column
[edit]http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2010/07/playlist_grasshopper_manufactures_akira_yamaoka
Akira Yamaoka was asked what his favourite songs are and how they inspire him, he also listed one song as being what he would wish to have played at his funeral. Interesting insight into Mr. Yamaoka's personality if someone wants to integrate this into the article. æronphonehome 06:52, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
