Turtle
[edit]The Turtle does not belong on this list. It wasn’t part of the Continental Navy. It was an army project. The USS Alligator was the first submarine of the US Navy. Anasaitis (talk) 20:58, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
- The world's first combat submersible, deployed by the Continental military should certainly be noted on this page. Where else would you have it listed? It's not like there is a List of submarines of the Continental Army. Also, since the subs are listed in chronological order, listing Turtle here provides historical context. Better to have it remain, but perhaps note that it was an army project in the 'notes' section (with a ref). - wolf 05:48, 4 November 2018 (UTC)

Recommendation for article improvement
[edit]It would be convenient to the reader to have the total number of boats at the top of this chart. 57.135.233.22 (talk) 04:14, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
