Rainn Wilson is not vegan, he can be seen here eating meat [4]. In Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss he can be seen eating ice cream and cod liver oil. "In Iceland, which is high on the happiness index, he goes skinny-dipping in a cold fjord, plays with adorable lambs, eats ice cream and swallows a bottle of cod liver oil." Jake Shields calls himself vegetarian [6]. Here he says he eats eggs [7], [8], [9]. He should be removed from the list. Psychologist Guy (talk) 15:23, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
Recent removals
[edit]Peter Dinklage is not vegan, he says he eats chicken and fish, that is confirmed here [10]. We have an interview for this. In regard to H. Jay Dinshah he should not be removed because there is no sourcing suggesting he was not vegan. Psychologist Guy (talk) 16:26, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry that was my mistake, I thought I added it back in. I was having difficulty reading how the coding worked.

vegetarian vs vegan in sources
[edit]The article states clearly what is considered as vegan (no animal products). However that distinction might be less clear for some the listed people themselves and/or in the sources about them. In Tulsi Gabbard's case for instance I noticed that she literally describes herself as vegetarian (and not explicitly distinguishing it from veganism either, see [11]). So sourcing here might be a bit tricky and often come with some ambiguity.--Kmhkmh (talk) 10:09, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- People on the list can only be added if the source specifically uses the term "vegan". If "almost vegan", vegetarian or plant-based are used that is not vegan and it is WP:OR to include them. If you see any sources with vegetarian rather than vegan in them, then that person should be removed from the list. I did clear out some non-vegans from the list but obviously there is more work to do. Psychologist Guy (talk) 12:59, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- Sure, I'm just saying the sources themselves seem often/occasional rather ambiguous as illustrated by Gabbard's example above.--Kmhkmh (talk) 11:47, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
Lizzo not vegan
[edit]I am removing Lizzo as she is not vegan. A lot of recent sourcing on this [12], [13], [14], [15], [16] Psychologist Guy (talk) 16:56, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
Profession group category?
[edit]What do people think of adding an extra, more broad category of occupation? It would be helpful to be able to see, for example, all the vegan athletes/sportspeople together in a list (within the rest of the list)! The name of this category could perhaps be 'Field', 'Profession group', or 'Area of Impact'. Categories within this category might include:
- Athlete/Sportsperson
- Entertainer [e.g., Musicians, Actors, Performers]
- Writer/Philosopher/Intellectual
- Activist (e.g., Environmentalists, Animal Rights Advocates)
- Public Figure (e.g., Politicians, Broadcasters)
- Influencer/Content Creator
- Scientist/Researcher
- Business/Entrepreneur
There might be an issue with entrants falling into multiple categories though (e.g. Joe Duplantier is a musician and an animal rights activist)?
What are your thoughts? Wisemancheez (talk) 14:07, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- It's not really clear what you are suggesting. We already have the "occupation" column which tells readers what people on the list are notable for. Betty Logan (talk) 19:31, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response! I'm referring to adding another column so that, when you click on the "sort ascending" arrow, it orders them into the broader categories as stated above. So at the click of a button, you could see everyone who's e.g. a sportsperson/athlete (irrespective of specific kind they are) without having to scroll through the whole list past everyone else. I think that would be a useful addition. It may be an alternative to having a "List of vegan athletes" page (though I think that would be a good idea too). Wisemancheez (talk) 23:15, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
- I think two columns covering what is essentially the same type of secondary information is overkill, and unnecessarily widens the table. That said, I agree with the logic of grouping sports people together, entertainers together and so on. Perhaps the way forward would be to add a sort key to the existing column to implement this? Betty Logan (talk) 00:55, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
