Signpost article

[edit]

Thanks for passing along your article, and I'm sorry I haven't been able to look at it closely before now (really slow page-loading and editing is a drag). It looks good and I definitely plan to use it. I took the liberty of editing a little (for example, I dropped the information about the exact time of promotion, figuring people wouldn't care that much about it unless precise timing was an issue) and also added some bits. Among the things I added was a section on mediation, since Fvw's a candidate there as well, and I figure there's some news interest in the state of affairs there.

I hope this is all okay with you; if you've got any concerns, let me know. I'll be adding the article to the new issue when I put it up in a few hours, but we can still make changes afterwards if necessary. Right now I plan to put the article up just under your name (I don't care about any credit for myself), but if you're concerned about appearing as the author on the mediation section—since you're also a candidate for that committee—feel free to attribute that to me if you prefer. --Michael Snow 03:42, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)

  • Great edits. I just added you in the byline and updated the date. As much as I'd like to take credit for the whole thing, a good half of it is yours, so you deserve just as much credit for the article. BLANKFAZE | (что??) 05:23, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Your sig

[edit]

Hi there. You should close that <small> tag in your sig with a </small>, because it seems to trigger a technical glitch whenever your sig gets wrapped in <s> </s> strikeouts. Compare the bottom of this page [1] with a recent version of the page. Cortonin | Talk 21:23, 19 Jan 2005 (UTC)

  • Howdy. There are no <small> tags in my signature. The diff you present contains an old version of my signature. My entire signature code can be seen at User:Blankfaze/sig. Thanks. BLANKFAZE | (что??) 21:28, 19 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Hello, I took the liberty to fix few of your old signatures in a talk page I was reading. In Mozilla Firefox, several unclosed <small> tags add up and the browser renders rest of the page with extremely tiny font, making it completely unreadable. A bad thing for a 100Kb widely read page. I don't think this has anything to do with the <s> </s> tags; <small> has been a paired tag since the dawn of HTML and Internet Explorer renders this invalid construction sanely merely by accident. I suggest you go hunting for the rest of your old signatures or post a request for collaboration asking the community to fix the remaining ones, in case there are many.

Also, I want to thank you for your support in my RfA. It was delightful to notice I meet your (quite strict!) standards for admins. Cordially, jni 13:06, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Hey, you endorsed the RfC on Everyking, and you probably know it's gone to arbitration. Some of us feel that the proposed decision against Everyking is insufficient and too weak for a user who has abused Wikipedia so badly. I hope you can weigh in at Wikipedia talk:Requests for arbitration/Everyking/Proposed decision having read the proposed decision and discussion and share your opinion with us, whether it's that the decision is too strong, just right, or too weak. Just because you weren't involved as deeply as some of us shouldn't prevent you from sharing your opinion. Johnleemk | Talk 06:12, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I found your edit summary of in the news rather obnoxious given the usual civil nature around here. I'd asked around a bit earlier, and most people thought that linking wikinews was a fairly good idea given it's current state of isolation — so I thought I'd give it a try. --BesigedB (talk) 19:22, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)

  • Well, I'm sorry, but that's the second time in the last 24 hours or so that an entry's been added which doesn't follow the rules. It just irks me that people can't take the time to read and follow the 2 simple rules of the ITN template. If linking to Wikinews articles is someting you want to do, you'll need to change the policy. Start discussing it on the talk page and building consensus, maybe hold a poll. Also, as a courtesy, please don't use ambiguous terms like "Red fog" as a section title on this talk page. Thanks, and I apologise for any snideness. BLANKFAZE | (что??) 19:40, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)
    • NP. I've noted the issue on pump policy, and I hope you don't take my mentioning of you the wrong way ;) --BesigedB (talk) 20:04, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Everyking

[edit]

Mate, I usually find what you write extremely amusing (mainly because you don't make personal attacks), but in the case of [2] that's just not funny because it's a personal attack. I realise that EveryKing can be trying, but this doesn't give us the right to make comments like that, especially on that poll. - Ta bu shi da yu 04:41, 3 Feb 2005 (UTC)

  • Heh. Well, sorry to hear you weren't amused. I very much disagree that it was a personal attack, though. I probably shouldn't have said it, of course, but it was only a joke and I figured someone would come along and remove. As was done. My apologies for any offence, that is rarely my intention. Gmail repository

[edit]

Seeing your post on the Misc VP, I thought I'd tell you that I have created User:Ludraman/gmail as a repository for Gmail invites to avoid endless posts to the VP about Gmail. Cheers, JOHN COLLISON (An Liúdramán) 11:17, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Thank you!

Just a quick "thank you" for voting me for admin. Now all I've got to do is find out how to use these worrying new powers... Grutness|hello? 06:32, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)
