Should a similar building, appearing in the Simpsons (I think?) merit a mention? Rhymeless

This place was also featured in an Arrested Development Episode: Pier Pressure from Season 1.

From the article: "One of only three similar buildings that survive in the area (the other two are in Los Angeles and La Puente), Randy's was built in 1953 as part of the now-defunct Big DoNut chain and is the lone remaining example."

According to the Randy's own website, that location was built in 1952. And it is not the lone example. At least three other Big Donut Drive-In locations still exist:

Kindle's Donuts at 10003 S. Normandie, L.A. is the original location, built in 1950 Donut King II at 15032 S Western Ave in Gardenia (date built unknown) Dale's Donuts at 15904 S Atlantic Ave in Compton (date built unknown)

Each features Robert Graham's giant donut sculpture, each is still open.

The caption for the aerial view photo near the end talks about how the donut is visible on the starboard side of the plane. In the picture, it's on the left. This means that the caption is wrong, or that the photo was taken looking backwards from the plane. Either way, it might be better to say "visible on the left side of the photo", which makes the issue moot. I would have changed it but I couldnt figure out how.

the sign featured prominently in the opening credits of all the seasons of Californication; I'm sure it has also appeared in other LA-centric TV shows and movies. Maybe we can slowly collect them here until we achieve a critical mass to do an edit. Deliusfan (talk) 19:04, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
