Future Event

[edit]

This is a strange concept: a page for an event which has not yet occurred. Is there a Wikipedia policy or accepted precedent for such an entry? Rlw 00:23, Apr 29, 2005 (UTC)

POV

[edit]

I don't know much (in fact nothing!) about elections in California, but I know POV when I see it. This article is overflowing with it! Arcturus 22:41, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Is it acceptable to include links to candidate websites for a current election? —ERcheck @ 05:28, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Polls

[edit]

Please add a poll taken after the primary election to the Schwarzenegger v Angelides opinion polls section as soon as one is available.

Lacking content

[edit]

Would it be within Wikipedia's scope to offer information on the candidates' substance - what policies they say the would enact, etc.? - of course in a npov manner. At present this article comes nowhere near that, essentially only containing lists and polls, which, while valuable aren't really informative to voters. Theshibboleth 10:57, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maximum Term in Office

[edit]

Ok here is an interesting question I would like to pose, According to this Wikipedia article it states that "Under the California Constitution, the Governor serves a four-year term, with a maximum limit of two terms." but since Schwarzenegger really isn't serving a full term as Governor that he is in actuality only serving the remaining 3 years of Gray Davis' term which would make him eligible to serve two full 4 year terms allowing him to actually serve (If elected) as Governor for 11 years instead of the maximum 8 years and that the first three years technically doesn't count. Am I wrong about this? Misterrick 03:58, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree it does looks like Arnie's first three years in office as Governor is a freebie and that he can run one more time for re-election in 2010 if he wins in the 2006 General Election in November but if he loses this election he can try running again starting in 2010 until he wins and serves out his maximum eight years in addition to the previous three. 151.198.150.231 16:12, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • You have to remember that's a partisan political site which probably wants voters to believe that he cannot run again for office. It is my belief and I could be wrong but Governor Schwarzenegger technically has not started to serve his first term, He is serving out the term of Governor Davis and if he is elected his first term won't start until the swearing in ceremony then he will be able to run again in 2010 for one more term (another 4 years) giving him 11 years instead of the maximum 8. Does anyone know where a definitive answer can be given? Misterrick 04:59, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
While I realize that that is a partisan site, there are more neutral sources that agree with its statement of Schwarzenegger's term limit. According to http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/sunday/commentary/la-op-jeffe2jul02,0,2261965.story?coll=la-sunday-commentary and http://www.aroundthecapitol.com/GOV/Legislative_Directory, the term limit is 2010. Theshibboleth 21:44, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Why not just look at the California Constitution?

Debate?

[edit]

We really should have information on the debate that was held today. I've been looking for places online that are hosting it. Theshibboleth 03:20, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Problems - Weasel terms, etc.

[edit]

What new taxes has Schwarzenegger supported that conservatives have opposed? As far as I am aware, the biggest criticisms from conservatives have been that he has been too amicable to the Democrat-controlled legislature. Also, who specifically are these liberals and conservatives who oppose him? Theshibboleth 03:17, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"In February, Legend will begin full support for the Mary Carey/E. L. Woody (The King of Paparazzi) campaign for governor and lieutenant governor. Carey, who collected over 10,000 votes during her 2003 run for governor, feels victory is imminent this time around." http://www.celebrities.com/blog/?p=330&
