Welsh Terrier

Welsh Terriers are one of the oldest breeds of terrier. They are spirited and courageous.

These terriers are not for everyone. They require patience and consistency when being trained. Welsh Terriers are best trained in short, happy sessions. Varying the training routine works best because Welsh Terriers get bored easily. A bored Welsh Terrier will find ways to amuse himself...often at the expense of his owner or other dogs.

There is some disagreement on whether or not Welsh Terriers are good with children. Many will say they are. I say they need to be watched when around young children.

The Welsh Terrier standard calls for the dog to be about 22 pounds and 15 inches tall. Their coloring is described as "black & tan."

A word of caution, one should always research breeds of dogs one is interested in purchasing. When one decides on a specific breed, such as a Welsh Terrier, make sure the purchase is made from a reputable, ethical breeder.
