Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Baltic Squid
Appearance
This is a thing that was mentioned once in one episode of the Simpsons. It is by no means sufficienly notable to warrant its own entry in an encyclopaedia. The article even says that it is "never described in any detail". Please Delete. --Bucephalus 11:30, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Keep: No reason to delete. If a suitable article can be found, perhaps I will support it being merged. Brianjd 11:37, 2004 Dec 16 (UTC)
- There is reason to delete this. How can something which only describes something that was once mentioned in a tv programme once belong in an encyclopaedia?--Bucephalus 11:42, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Does it matter that it was only described once? Brianjd 12:12, 2004 Dec 16 (UTC)
- Yes, of course it matters. If even the programme's writers didn't find it interesting enough to bring back in later episodes, then it's not notable enough for Wiki. Delete. P Ingerson 13:39, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Merge: with List of recurring characters from The SimpsonsDelete All the 'information' about the squid is already on the Simpsons page under the entry for Captain Horatio McAllister.[[User:Paul Tracy|Paul Tracy/talk]] 11:45, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)- Delete and Merge Wyss 12:07, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Should this be merged with List of recurring characters from The Simpsons? Brianjd 12:12, 2004 Dec 16 (UTC)
- This is neither a character nor recurring. Delete would be best. --Bucephalus 12:38, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)

- Comment: Unsure. A redirect would be nice if I could figure out where to, but I guess anyone searching for this will find the information without it. People will search on it, any concept mentioned even once in The Simpsons seems to have wings. No vote. Andrewa 18:39, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)

- Delete. I remember that episode, and it was just one joke that mentioned it. A perfect example of fanc-- err, unnecessary fictional detail. [[User:Livajo|Ливай | ☺]] 02:19, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Delete - single episode occurence - Andre Engels 02:36, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Ideally merge/move to episode article, otherwise keep. Everyking 10:08, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Another thing: this article was created back on March 21. Why does it seem like we're all of a sudden out to purge all our Simpsons content? Pretty soon I figure we'll have just one article on the show left, and it'll be a stub. We ought to be encouraging the growth of this kind of content; people should be writing articles about the individual episodes and seasons and not single jokes like this, but if they're going to do it this way, I don't have any interest in punishing them for it. Eventually the content will all be sorted out, if we don't delete it first. Everyking 10:13, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)

- Delete - We most certainly should not be encouraging the growth of this kind of content, and to complain that eventually there'll only be a stub article left to cover all of The Simpsons is one of the most outrageous abuses of the slippery slope fallacy I've ever seen.
