Apparent typo in pull quote
[edit]Surely this pull quote has a typo (emphasis added by me):
Imperialism is capitalism at the stage of development at which the dominance of monopolies and finance capital is established; in which the export of capital has acquired pronounced importance; in which the division of the world among the international trusts as begun; in which divisions of all territories of the globe among the biggest capitalist powers has been completed.
Surely that word "as" should be "has" instead. I can't check the reference in the exact source provided because I don't have the book cited for this pull quote, namely
McDonough, Terrence (1995). "Lenin, Imperialism, and the Stages of Capitalist Development". Science & Society. Vol. 59, no. 3. Guilford Press. pp. 339–367. JSTOR 40403507.
This archive has the quote with the word "has" instead though: https://www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/1916/imp-hsc/ch07.htm
As does this scan of the actual book in Archive.org from the Public Library of India: https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.226758/page/n200/mode/2up Carney333 (talk) 16:30, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
Requested move 9 September 2023
[edit]Communist Party of the Soviet Union → Bolshevik Party – the article describes the overall history of the party, starting with its foundation as a radical wing of the Russian Social Democratic Workers Party in 1912. For the first 10 years of its existence there has been no Soviet Union. For approximately half of its existence it had other names rather than "Communist Party". However, the term "Bolshevik Party" had been in active use until at least 1952, but even after that had been used occasionally while referring to the CPSU, although its meaning switched more to describing the revolutionaries of the early Soviet Union. Article whitewashing atrocities
[edit]The Nazi Party article, rightfully so, brings up in the lead, the many atrocities of the Nazi Party
Reading over the, it seems as if it was written by communists trying to downplay the crimes of the Communist Party, there is lack of the words "Kill, Death, Genocide, Murder" in the article
In specific, I found this section quite disturbing
"The Soviet Union was the first to warn of the impending danger of invasion from Nazi Germany to the international community. The Western powers, however, remained committed to maintaining peace and avoiding another war breaking out, many considering the Soviet Union's warnings to be an unwanted provocation. After many unsuccessful attempts to create an anti-fascist alliance among the Western countries, including trying to rally international support for the Spanish Republic in its struggle against a fascist military coup supported by Germany and Italy, in 1939 the Soviet Union signed a non-aggression pact with Germany which would be broken in June 1941 when the German military invaded the Soviet Union in the largest land invasion in history, beginning the Great Patriotic War."
This is borderline whitewashing and propaganda
""The Soviet Union was the first to warn of the impending danger of invasion" ..... " in 1939 the Soviet Union signed a non-aggression pact with Germany" This whole section ignores the blatant cooperation between the soviet union and Germany during this period, and conveniently leaves out the details of the molotov ribbentrop pact, such as agreeing to carve up eastern europe, and the Soviets supplying materials to the Germans, it is written as if all that happened was the Soviets signed a non aggression pact because the west would not take the initiative to strike first, ignoring the actual events that took place
