Homer Simpson ages?

[edit]

You've added a comment on The Simpsons about Homer being the only one that ages. Is that really true? I've not seen any ageing over the 10+ years. violet/riga 13:29, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Yes it is true. In the episode where Homer modeled his life after Edison, he was 39. In the one where he remembered he found that corpse, he said he was 42.- B-101 13:34, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)

is that not just a continuity error? I don't see how they'd have a main character ageing when the other main characters aren't violet/riga 13:56, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)
If you want, it could be called continuity error. But his age is the only one that is changing.- B-101 14:00, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Milhouse's Uncle

[edit]

Hi, on the Simpsons character list you mention Milhouse's Uncle - which episode was he mentioned in? Krupo 19:19, Oct 5, 2004 (UTC)

He was seen in the episode where Bart nominated Mrs. Krabapple for teacher of the year. Bart was trying to focus on writing a report on WWI when Milhouse asked him if he wanted to go for a ride in his uncle's Blackhawk.- B-101 11:17, 6 Oct 2004 (UTC)

 • Ah, that would explain why I couldn't find it on SNPP.com first time I checked - it's barely a year old! :) Special Edna, #EABF02, is the episode name. Thanks. Krupo 19:05, Oct 12, 2004 (UTC)

Abbreviations

[edit]

Is it okay to abbreviate words (such as can't or don't) on regular articles?- B-101 00:53, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Remember that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia; please try to use formal grammar, spelling, and style when writing or editing. Thus, please don't put contractions in articles (they're fine in talk pages!... just used two contractions)... Thanks for your contributions! Flcelloguy 01:06, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Article Licensing

[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Sorry I never got back to telling you about the multi-licensing thing. I think I would like to have the option one, but I still don't understand it. Could you please get back to me and re-explain the multi-licensing?- B-101 16:36, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I'm not exactly sure what you're confused about, so I'll try and you can let me know if I didn't explain it right. Option one uses the Creative Commons "by-sa" license which very simply requires that anyone using the page attribute you as an author and that it be released under the same license. This is essentially how the GFDL works without some of the problems of the GFDL. GFDL and CC-by-sa are very similar except that they both explicitly state that they only work with their own particular license. Using Option 1 tells other users that they can use your contributions under either license, thus being more flexible than using just one license. Hope this helps. — Ram-Man (comment) (talk) 15:09, Apr 21, 2005 (UTC)

List of Imperial Personnel

[edit]

What fictional universe are we referring to with this article? Could you please add an explanatory introduction to your work to reduce confusion? PaulinSaudi 11:55, 13 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I saw you started the Recess television article, so you might want to know it's currently up for deletion. Maybe you could rewrite it with more of a history? Recess (TV series) Mike H 05:12, Mar 2, 2005 (UTC)

I have written about it the the article talk page and edited the article. On more thing: please don't link hardly related words in the articles. Excessive linking makes reading text slower. (You linked word "trains" in the Asperger's article.) -Hapsiainen 15:03, Mar 9, 2005 (UTC)

FAC

[edit]

B-101, there is a process that needs to be followed when nominating an article for featured status. You added the Star Wars page directly to WP:FAC, but the nomination was not added to the Star Wars talk page, the previous FAC was not archived, and the subpage not created. I have corrected this, but please refer to procedure guidelines when operating in the Wikipedia namespace. Thanks. Harro5 22:55, May 28, 2005 (UTC)

The Office (US)

[edit]

I reverted the The Office (US) episode table. If this is a wiki requirement that it must be ugly then I will back off, but the version you created lost the original airdate. Do the word lengths get messed up on your computer? I just didn't want the two-line episode titles. We can discuss this...

Flamarande

[edit]

"Flamarande" is the name of a fictional castle. It appears in a novel (a portuguese translation) my mother gave me. The original title is: "Le Secret De Flamarande" and was written by Simone Darré (never heard of him). Its a good short-story (but not brilliant) about a medieaval family secret. I use it mainly because its simply original (nobody uses it anywhere I went). I really doubt it has any special meaning, but then my knowledge of the french language is rather precarious. Willy Wonka Pictures

[edit]

Hi. I got those pictures you wanted done- from WWatCF. They should be on their respective pages. Just go to my contributions page to have a look.

If you haven't figured out how to do the screencaps yet, and you wanted something to do, you could scan pictures from the Charlie book- the illustrations by Quentin Blake. If I remembered correctly, you said you had the book?

Are we allowed to do that, scan pictures from books? I just don't know what tag you would use when uploading it, or if it is even fair use.

I just think it would be neat to have the illustrated versions (of the kids, Willy Wonka, Grandpa Joe, Golden Ticket, Wonka Bar), then have both film versions on the article just to be more complete. Let me know what you think. --Rachel Cakes 11:30, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This user has been awarded the Userbox Barnstar Award for creating a particularly notable userbox.

For creating the "User soup nazi" userbox, I award you this "I like your Userbox" Barnstar Award... I still think the original swastika would have looked better on it. Rosa

Hey, you're very welcome ;) I just saw you put it in your user page. I hope you don't mind me saying this but the award seems to be crushing your "about me" section. You might want to write this br clear="all" (inside these <>)immediately after the award template so that the "About me" section moves a bit down...it will look better, trust me. If you have problems while doing this just tell me in my talk page and I will fix it. BTW, pardon me for being nosy... Rosa 02:34, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Phil,

Since it looks like the Lost (TV series) article isn't quite ready for featured status, would you like to withdraw the nomination for the moment (rather than have it fail outright), while we address some of the concerns brought up, plus add some more "encyclopedic" content? I think the article is quite far along, but could do with another Peer Review before being up for FA (which I'm hoping to see it get, too!) Thanks! —LeflymanTalk 21:39, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
An image or media file, Image:World Cup 2006 logo.png, has been removed from your userpage or user talk page because it was licensed as fair use. As a result, although users are often given a great amount of latitude in the type of content that is allowed on their user pages, it is requested that you abide by this policy. Feel free, however, to add images and media files licensed under other terms. For more information, see Wikipedia's fair use policy and an accompanying essay on the removal of fair use images. Simpsons episodes

[edit]

Hi, in Brawl in the Family, you put one quote as "Wiggum (to a inmate line-up): Now, everyone turn to the right. (some of the inmates turn to their right, others turn to their left) Oh, come on, people! The Prison Nutcracker Suite is in one week and I don't see five Sugar Plums. I see five guys who don't know their moves and don't seem to care! There, I've said it!" But snpp.com gives it as (differences are in italics) "Okay, everyone turn to the left. Oh, come on people, the Prison Nutcracker Suite is one week away, and I don't see five sugar plums. I see five guys who don't know their moves and don't seem to care. There -- I said it!" I remember thinking the same thing with a few other Simpsons episode articles; it may seem petty, but it's a matter of accuracy. Can you please consider using a source rather than going by memory? Your RfA

[edit]

Sorry, but I closed it due to:

 • A clear consensus not to promote (Note that my summary on the RfA was "no consensus", which is due to javascript auto-inputs that I forgot to change)
 • Everything useful has been said
 • I don't want it to be a pile-on against him of Oppose votes with no or a redundant expaination. This consensus came pretty quick, and I don't want oppose votes to just keep stacking up.

Bureaucrats and admins often close such nominations. This only means that the voters agreed that you were not ready just yet. If am sure that you can just gain more experience and re-apply later and get through.Voice-of-All 01:26, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Sutler2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sutler2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

You cannot use billing order as the basis of who to include in the casting section. This is because billing order doesn't always correspond with what importance the characters have in the film, and can be influenced by behind-the-scene deals and the politics of film-making.
And in regards to uploading pictures for you, I might not be the best person to ask, as my Wiki-time is limited nowadays. Sorry. Don't you have friends in your area who can help you screen capture? Hi, there has recently been some contention over the isse of whether Simpsons character pages need "episodes featuring" lists and it's been decided that the issue will be put to a vote. As a member of the WikiProject, your opinion on the matter would be appreciated. Join the discussion here. Thanks, Scorpion 05:05, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Bailey boom.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bailey boom.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

The Computer Wore Menace Shoes

[edit]

I was doing recent changes patrol and noticed that you deleted the quote section of The Computer Wore Menace Shoes with the comment "I can't believe I just deleted a quote section." Because of your edit history here this obviously wasn't vandalism, but I was curious why you did that. You also might want to state why you did this on the article's talk page so people understand your logic. Best,--Alabamaboy 02:03, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your edit

[edit]

... on the Transylvania page: thanks for your help with removing vandalism. However, I'd also like to ask you to carefully look at the vandal's edit(s) when doing so. In this case, the sentence you removed was not inserted into the article but an already existing paragraph was replaced by it. I usually prefer to look at the history of the article and try to find a revision containing no vandalism, then revert to that revision, to avoid this kind of problem. Happy editing, KissL 08:43, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Bjoffice.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Bjoffice.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 12:37, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ford-Arthur-Zaphod.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ford-Arthur-Zaphod.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:50, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Tripod26wj.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Tripod26wj.jpg.

Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 06:22, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Alexandra Jamieson

[edit]

An editor has nominated Alexandra Jamieson, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alexandra Jamieson and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:44, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A potential chat session with Bill Oakley

[edit]

We at the Simpsons WikiProject have managed to get into contact with the one and only Bill Oakley (who showran The Simpsons from season 7 to 8) and he has agreed to send us some images and to do an IRC chat in the future with us so that we can ask questions about things that we can use in articles. The transcript of this chat will hopefully be posted at NoHomers.net, which I think will be a good enough sorce. Failing that, we'll try The Simpsons Archive. Every member is more than welcome to take part, which will be held at our #wpsimpsons channel. Because not everyone will be able to make the chat, a page has been made where any member can post questions that can be asked. Remember, no fan questions, and due to a lack of time, try to limit it to ones that will help improve an article. That page is here. If you have any questions, ask myself, Xihix (who is the one in contact with him) or post it at WT:DOH. -- Scorpion0422 02:51, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there! If you're receiving this message, it means that you are currently in the Participants category of The Office WikiProject. A message involving reconfirmation was included in the current newsletter, but it was a bit buried, and I wanted to make sure that everyone received notice of this so we can get as accurate of a count as we can. The WikiProject is currently trying to find how many users listed in the Participants section are active members, and if you have a spare moment later, it would be a big help if you noted your reconfirmation by simply signing your signature here. And if you're a non-member reading this, feel free to drop by and add your name to the reconfirmation category; you'll be added into the list once it's finished. Thanks, and have a great day! Orphaned non-free media (Image:Tripod in action.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Tripod in action.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Proposed deletion of Imperial Academy (Star Wars)

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Imperial Academy (Star Wars), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. --EEMIV (talk) 17:38, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:1953 machines.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:1953 machines.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Pais (talk) 21:27, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notice- dont add unsourced information

[edit]

Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to Hulu. Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you.-- The Red Pen of Doom 16:01, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Even if it is on the website so what? How is it encyclopedic? -- The Red Pen of Doom 17:20, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't edit war. The person who happens to be in the second advertisement is not of great encyclopedic importance. (compared to the first add, which by being the first, and during the SuperBowl, makes it worthy of note). --ZimZalaBim talk 17:38, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
